The price was the best thing.Staff was friendly.Nice neighborhood. Free shuttle to train station and airport. I was lucky - lived near the lobby (2nd floor) and had full WiFi coverage in the room. Even though the services were not very rich, it was not the worst case I have experienced.
The room was a bit dirty. And long, black hair was on the blankets in one bed. Luckily I had two beds in the room, just slept in the other one. The "express breakfast"is not really a breakfast, rather tea/coffe + donut. It was a bit hard to get to the hotel from the train station by walking - got my feet dirty with mud.

The location was excellent.... right near the CTA blue line. You can take the train from the airport to within a few blocks of the hotel and you can take the train downtown. There are several eating establishments close by and there is also a large grocery store. The location and the price are the two best things about the Garden Hotel.
It is a 60's era hotel that once was very nice. It has not been kept up.

Little renovation (paint, wall paper) especially in the corridors would change a lot.

Shuttle driver was extremely helpful & friendly. Upon walking in I was a bit skeptical, but the room was super clean & comfortable for an over night stay for an early flight.

It was close to the location of my conference.
Only one of many ice machines worked. It was run down. The donuts for breakfast were awful.
